Starting an internship is an exciting step, and it is natural to have questions.

I have never worked with anyone on the autism spectrum before.
Will I be able to cope?
Many of our interns start with little or no prior experience. You will receive training before you begin, and you will always have guidance and support from the team. What matters most is having an open mind and a willingness to learn.
Do I need to be interested in teaching to apply?
Not at all. We welcome individuals from all backgrounds and career interests.
What does a typical day look like?
Depending on your placement, you may support students during lessons, assist in programmes and activities, or support adults in their employment journey. Whatever your role, you will always be part of a team working towards meaningful impact.
Will this internship benefit my future career?
Yes. YFA Internship helps you build communication skills, adaptability, emotional awareness, and the ability to connect meaningfully with others. These are valuable skills that stay with you across any career path.
Do I need to go through an interview?
Yes. Shortlisted applicants will be contacted for an interview after submitting their application. Only shortlisted candidates will be notified.
When is the best time to apply?
We recommend applying at least two months before your intended start date.
Applications open in February and August.

Final deployment depends on organisational needs and your suitability for the role and will be confirmed upon offer.
What if I cannot commit for the full 5 to 6 months?
We strongly encourage interns to commit to the full internship duration to gain the most meaningful experience.
If you are interested, but unable to commit fully, feel free to reach out to discuss possible arrangements.
Can I take leave during the internship?
Yes. Leave for important matters, such as university admission appointments, may be considered.
However, we encourage interns to minimise leave during term time and avoid planning extended travel during the internship period.
